Since Friday is clear: In Abu Dhabi, all comes down to a duel between McLaren and Red Bull. On Friday, Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel shared the best times in training. Particularly impressed by Vettel the long run-Pace of Britons who have left in the workout, in fact, a strong impression. That McLaren is extremely fast even on the soft tires, Hamilton showed in qualifying with the pole position and three-tenths ahead of Mark Webber. Yet he had the day before still complained about problems getting the soft tires to work properly ans.

At least at the Yas Marina Circuit McLaren plays the first violin, is catching up with Red Bull announced. "McLaren has one of the strongest cars in the field, and Abu Dhabi is against them maybe a little better," said Vettel. "You are here, but not over the hill, but within reach." In the last race Hamilton and team-mate Jenson Button stumbled occasionally, but in time for the final sprint in the F1 seems to have found the team back to its former strength. Possibly in the form of improvement is, however, also be attributed to a large extent of the track, as have changed, according to the cars Hamilton nothing serious.

"McLaren was also fast in the last race, but perhaps they have not brought it here and there, quite to the point," said Vettel. "That has obviously not bothered." Vettels main role is in the final three Grands Prix of the year to keep Alonso behind him and thus to bag the third consecutive title. But Red Bull depends on looking ahead and Vettel has the fifth consecutive victory in his sights. "Id be happy if we would go a bit further forward to the finish", hoping the Heppenheim. "The goal is to attack McLaren. This will be difficult because they are very strong."

To attack pole-sitter Hamilton can, however, Vettel must happen once team-mate Webber. At the end was missing about one tenth of a second to second place and thus the front row. Maybe it would have worked with P2, but Vettel afforded during his last run a small mistake and left some time. "My last lap was not perfect, that annoys me the most," said the 25-year-old. "Id better go, then it would have been enough for second place." On the last flying lap he had been in the traffic between Felipe Massa and Button, but Vettel was award the two not guilty or the like.

Whether Vettel kept his third place at all is allowed, but in the balance. Vettel had to park his car shortly after the end of the track side. The stewards investigating the incident at present.

Formula 1 Gillan Fourth Place Was The Maximum

Mark Gillan after Pastor Maldonado was the fourth place on the grid in Abu Dhabi delighted with the performance of the Venezuelan - he had achieved the maximum.

Pastor Maldonado on Saturday
Pastor Maldonado on Saturday was the surprise
Continue along with Williams - with P4 shocked Pastor Maldonado in qualifying for the Grand Prix of Abu Dhabi, one or the other competitors. Even chief engineer Mark Gillan, the second row was a surprise. "The race pace was very good on Friday - our Qualifyingpace was never as good as that on the long runs, so we have worked to strengthen," said the Briton, who was pleased that this work now apparently bore fruit. "But I think P4 was really close at the maximum, which today was driving it -. Therefore we are very satisfied" Within a few weeks you may have to increase significantly. "The car was in Korea, for example, is not particularly strong, just as it was about the balance.

"In New Delhi, but we have been working hard and improving." In Abu Dhabi, we have continued to make it. General Gillan guess the current potential of the FW34 at number five or six. "P4 for pastor was so of course very good." The most important thing always make it somehow into Q3, because then much would be possible as a result of demonstrating. "This track here is due to the late running times and the temperatures drop very tricky. If the track then so changed that much, you have to rely as a team all the more to the driver and that he himself knows where he attack and where can not. Since he has "done a very good job today, Gillan praised his protege in the second row.
P4 makes life easier

On Sunday, we must now try to keep their heads as long as possible in the top group. "Our starts this season were always very good - the only problem is that it carries a much higher risk that something happens when you qualify in the middle and in the confusion," said the Williams man. Insofar Maldonado did at the start not only a meter advantage but also the upper hand, which would affect the risk of an early collision. "Front, it is easier to control the race pace." The last one had to learn the hard way in India firsthand. "Since our race was more or less destroyed by traffic. All the more we are now looking forward to returning forward drive off."

Gillan was in any case convinced: "If we get away well again, the signs are not bad, especially when you consider how much Pastor was on Friday on the road." Wanted a podium not exclude the engineers at appropriate circumstances on the desert course. "There is absolutely no reason why we should not bring in a very good result." Less fortunate than his team-mate Bruno Senna, however, had on Saturday. After he had the day before struggling with brake problems and schedule in any case only the second session was in the car, in the qualifying strike the KERS of the Brazilian.

On a track with lots of long straights, a significant disadvantage, which ultimately reflected so that more than a sobering 15th Starting rank for the 29-year-old just was not in it. That for the second Williams but it all was lost, did not yet believe Gillan. "The brake problems of yesterday and already today we could solve the problems on KERS are already rectified - for the race so everything should work," he made Senna courage. It was however clear that the misery in Brazil certainly could affect the balance of his Boliden.
Internally good cooperation

But since you plan similar programs in both drivers, we intend to limit downside Sennas also the fact that one vote for its Balance Transfer the data from well functioning Maldonado Williams. "Because we work as a team always together very closely, also on Friday, even if we use all three riders," revealed Gillan. The focus would be on Sunday but still on Maldonados great chance for a top position. Could be involved that the current as impetuous Venezuelans in a collision, he did not believe. "Pastor is a very fast rider and he had for some time been no more incidents."

"He knows our goals for tomorrow and we just - its primarily about to enter good points," said Gillan. His pilot attackiere this weekend really hard. "And we expect the same from him tomorrow." Also in view of the teams World Cup they wanted to continue to give our all. "There are still three races, we are being fast in a good position and the car - now we just need the big points," the Briton squinted with one eye also toward Force India, the on in the constructors championship in front of one lie in seventh place, but have also been a whopping 34 points ahead of the tradition Stuppe from Grove.

Formula 1 Horner Threatens 2013 Even Better We Are Never Satisfied

By leaning back at Red Bull can be no question. Christian Horner wants the coming year to fight for all the titles.
In the ears of the competition, it has to sound like a threat. Red Bull believes that the third double success in the driver and team standings, the end of the story is yet to be reached. On the contrary, the top team in the last few years have definitely still potential to improve and win more titles. That at least is the view of team boss Christian Horner, the Red Bull looks for 2013 in the role of favorite.

"We have assembled a very strong group, we can always improve," said the Briton. "We have learned a few things this year and will apply what they have learned in the future." In his opinion, this property belongs to the great strengths of the racing world champion. "We are never satisfied. Our gaze is always directed inward, whether it is the drivers, engineers or technicians," he said. "This desire to always get the best out has kept us the last three years at the helm."

In 2012 had this ability to focus on the essentials, the decisive factor. The successes of the past season was not particularly against the backdrop of a difficult start to the season be overestimated. "This was by far our greatest achievement," said Horner. "When we won the constructors championship last week, we were cautious. We knew that the job is only half done."

What a show of strength to the team at the last race of the season in Brazil still to come would, but probably not even the Red Bull boss expects. "More stress than we had in the rain was not. But we are focused stayed and stay calm," said Horner. "Not only in Brazil but in all 20 races." A Extralob pronounced the 39-year-old Sebastian Vettel, who had been preceded with a great example. "Sebastian has never given up. He was wildly and absolutely wanted the championship."
