The 2012 Lexus Small Car Review and Pricing

The 2012 Lexus Small Car - First Look
First Look to The 2012 Lexus Small Car
Lexus has built its success with opulent, beautifully made, gadget-laden vehicles, not excitement machines. Even its sportiest models to date, the 1992-2000 SC sport coupes, were not the stuff of enthusiast dreams. But now the luxury marque aims to liven up its image in a major way with the 2012 Lexus LFA. Amazingly for a
brand with no prior experience in high-performance sports cars, this new V10-powered two-passenger looks to be a serious challenger to the Ferrari 599
GTB, Lamborghini Gallardo, and, perhaps most tellingly, the GT-R from arch rival Nissan. That’s just as well, as the LFA has been a long time coming, announced after nearly five years of public hemming-and-hawing, three concept teasers, and disappointing finishes in a major auto race two years running. In fact, this may be the longest new-model “introduction” in automotive history.

Toyota’s luxury division unveils its first high-performance sports car after five years of “will it or won’t it.” The LFA is Ferrari-fighter, image-builder, technical testbed, and executive pet project all in one. But only 500 will ever be built--at $375,000 a pop.

To give fabulous performance 2012 Lexus GS model is seemed to come with muscular pack. The mechanical assembly would comprise of 4.3ltr V-8 engine associated with VVT-i techno
logy. It’s cylinders would be paired with 32 valves and DOHC technology which im
proves the fuel efficiency of the vehicle by facilitating easy control of fuel through the engine. The
muscular mechanical assembly is powered to produce the momentum of 300 hp around 500 RPM and a torque of 325lb.ft at 3400 RPM. The vehicle will offer 6 speed automatic transmission with
paddle shifters which facilitates to shift over manual transmission. For facility convenience the gear box comes with sequential gear shift mechanism which adds to its better performance. This design offers an advantage of saving fuel by giving 18 miles per gallon on city streets and the mileage of 25 miles per gallon on highways. It is expected that 2012 Lexus GS would be introduced with hybrid mechanism which would roll around engine V6.

There’s even fewer details revealed in these shots, other than that the rear bum
p
er has been cut and stretched, likely to make the shell fit over the new platform that’s expected to be shared between the IS & GS models.

Even with a new mule out and about, there’s very little reason to think the next-generation IS is right around the corner — especially with the revised edition introduced this year. My own guess would be the next-generation IS debuts in 2012 as a 2013 model.

2012 Lexus Compact Review and Pricing

Devised to take on the premium European small cars exemplified by the BMW as well as the Audi A3, the forthcoming compact is understood to be in co-development with the next-generation IS due about 2012. The sub-IS model is priority number one at Lexus at the moment as it seeks to weather the economic storm, lure more younger buyers and move in the general downsizing direction of the lux
ury car market. The fact that there will be a hybrid version of the BS leads to the conclusion that a hybrid IS might also see the light of day when the all-new version arrives.
Lexus has even put the sub-RX luxury SUV (to be based on the LFXh concept) on hold as it focuses on bringing the BS to market.
Korean car manufacturer KIA, seems increasingly active in promoting their car production. Evidenced by the display of all-new 2012 Rio at the Geneva Motor Show 2011, which proves that the KIA is ready to compete in hat

2013 Lexus GS F Review and Release

2013 Lexus GS-F Rumor Reality
2013 Lexus GS-F

Autocar is reporting that the Lexus GS-F is on deck for 2013 and will be powered by the LFA’s V10:

Lexus engineers are working on reducing the engine’s capacity by around 200cc to 4.6 litres and power to 450bhp. The idea is to improve low-range torque, although even with the reduced power output the GS-F will become the most powerful road-going Japanese saloon ever built.

The GS-F will be fitted with Toyota’s first torque vectoring differential. Similar to the diff used on BMW’s M cars and the likes of the X6 SUV, the ‘torque split unit’ actively apportions drive between the rear wheels to aid handling. A similar system is also expected to be fitted to the new SC.

The GS F has been long rumored, and at the Detroit Auto Show, even Lexus representatives were whispering about the possibility. The timeframe seems reasonable, and
it wouldn’t surprise me to hear that Toyota was working on torque vectoring technology.

Also mentioned in the article is the next-generation SC:

The new SC will be unveiled in mid-2014, although the current car is due to finish production this July, leaving a four-year gap between the two cars. However, the next model will be a hybrid, powered by a 5.0-litre V8 and an electric motor driving the rear wheels only.

Can’t see the SC going on a four-year hiatus, even if it’s dependant on GS-F technology. That would be a long time for Lexus to go without a true sports coupe.

The 2012 Audi Q5 Hybrid Quattro Review and Pricing

Power like a V6, fuel consumption like a four-cylinder TDI - after three generations of the Audi duo, the Audi Q5 hybrid quattro is the first hybrid model from Audi with two drive systems. Its gasoline engine, a 2.0 TFSI, and its electric motor have a system output 180 kW (245 hp) and 480 Nm (354.03 lb-ft) for sporty dynamics - the mean consumption in the normal cycle (NEDC) is limited to less than 7.0 liters per 100 km (33.60 US mpg). The 2.0 TFSI and the electric motor of the Audi Q5 hybrid are mounted directly behind one another as a parallel hybrid system - a straight-line concept with impressive efficiency. Together they have a system output of 180 kW (245 hp) and a system torque of 480 Nm (354.03 lb-ft). The new top model in the successful Q5 series sprints from 0 to 100 km/h (62.14 miles) in 7.1 seconds, while the interim sprint from 80 to 120 km/h (49.71 to 74.56 mph) is
accomplished in fifth gear in 5.9 seconds. The powerful propulsion ends at no less than 222 km/h (137.94 mph).

Under the bonnet is Audi’s turbocharged and direct-injected 2.0-litre TFSI unit, good for 208bhp and 258lb ft, the latter available from 1500 to 4200rpm. There’s no manual ‘box or dual-clutch transmission, but an eight-speed automatic, with a disk-shaped electric motor in place of the torque converter. The motor itself produces 33kW and 155lb ft, and also acts as a starter motor and a generator. The total output for the system is 241bhp and 354lb ft.

The result is 40.4mpg and sub-160g/km CO2, plus 0-62mph in 7.1 seconds, 138mph flat out. Not gobsmacked? Then remember that this is a car primarily designed for the diesel-despising USA. For comparisons sake, a non-hybrid 2.0 TFSI with an S-tronic transmission (what American will opt for a stick-shift SUV?) manages 7.2sec, 137mph, 32.8mpg and 19
9g/km. And the important figures match or best an auto-equipped 2.0 TDI’s 40.4mpg and 184g/km.

Just because the Audi Q5 Hybrid Quattro starts with a four-cylinder engine doesnt mean its slow. In fact, 0-62 mph takes 7.1 seconds. The nearly 20-gallon fuel tank, Audi notes, means this Q5 has a diesel-like range, though probably not if you are traveling at the vehicles 138-mph top speed.
The 2.0-liter engine weve come to know and love in other Audis is altered for u
se in the Hybrid. The turbo has been retuned and the ECU helps make smooth transitions between operating modes. An eight-speed automatic transmission is part of the package, as is engine start-stop technology. By itself, the electric m
otor makes 45 horsepower and 155 pound-feet of torque. The lithium-ion battery system doesnt have a huge effect on the cargo capacity, Audi says.

The 2012 Hyundai Veloster Review and Concept

First Look to The 2012 Hyundai Veloster - Review, First Drive and Concept
Before the Genesis Coupe, there was the Tiburon. Hyundais former entry-level sport coupe didnt make a lasting impression here in the U.S., but the Korean automaker is ready to try again with its all-new 2012 Hyundai Veloster. Like the Tiburon was, the Veloster is front drive, compact and sportyish, but the new car features a few significant differences.
Weve kept a diligent eye on the Veloster since it first appeared at the 2007 Los Angeles show, back when it was just a wide-eyed concept from a then-marginal brand not yet known for turning out compelling vehicles. A little more than three years later, with the automaker enjoying white-hot brand visibility and record sales here in the U.S., Hyundai has decided the Velosters time is now.
Unlike the Tiburon, the Veloster doesnt fit the classic definition of a coupe, des
pite Hyundais marketing spin. Though it has a coupe-like outline, the Veloster is a hatchback.
In addition, theres a forward-hinged third door on the passenger sid
e of the vehicle with a recessed handle for a smooth, clean look.

Inside, the cabin boasts best-in-class interior room as well as metallic accents, a seven-inch touch-screen display (with integrated Pandora radio), Bluetooth connectivity,
and Blue Link telematics. If that isnt nice enough, options include aluminum pedals, a panoramic sunroof, a 450-watt Dimension audio system, and GPS navigation.
Under the hood, power comes from a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 138 hp (103 kW / 140 PS) and 123 lb-ft (167 Nm) of torque. It is mated to a standard six-speed manual or an optional six-speed DSG. Performance specifications havent been released, but Hyundai expects the 2,584 lb (1,172
kg) Veloster will be able to return 40 mpg highway.

Nissan GT R 2013 Review and Release

2013 Nissan Qashqai
2013 Nissan Qashqai Review and Release

The new Nissan GT-R R36 arrives in 2013. This is confirmed by Andy Palmer, vice president of the Japanese, who unbuttons some valuable information on the new model. Specifically, during an ‘interview for a popular American magazine, Palmer said that Nissan was inspired by Porsche regarding the pace of upgrading its products (we had no doubt). The new R36 GT-R will be built on a chassis developed than at present and will retain its mighty twin-turbo V6, suitably revised and expanded (could get direct fuel injection).
Will still remain in the mechanical architecture of the car. The fact that Palmer during the interview, spoke of Porsche GT2 as a benchmark for the GT-R reminds us that new Nissan supercar will receive a substantial injection of power to compete adequately with the more “horses” of 911. Moreover, given the configuration of the GT2, the words of the boss of Japanese allows us to make some modest speculation about the arrival of a variant of the GT-R rear wheel drive only.

Mercedes-Benz selected the Los Angeles Auto Show for the world premiere of its track-focused, but still street-legal, SLS AMG Black Series that was joined by the refreshed SLS AMG GT and the new GL63 AMG, both of which made their U.S. motor show debuts.
The Black Series badge brings a host of racecar touches to the German firms Gullwing-door supercar, including a wide body kit that improves aerodynamics, a weight reduction, modified suspension, brakes and steering, and a slightly more powerful version of the regular models 6.2-liter V8 churning out 622hp (631PS).
Series production of the limited run SLS AMG Black Series will begin next summer at an as-of-yet, undisclosed price.
However, just to get an idea of what the BS will cost, Mercedes used the LA Auto Show to announce U.S. pricing for the facelifted 2013 SLS AMG GT, which carries an MSRP of $199,500 in coupe trim, and $206,000 as a Roadster, excluding a $2,100 gas-guzzler tax and destination and delivery fees.

One Podium Finish And 15 Points In Total For The Cruze In Porto

FIA WTCC - Alain Menu wins at Brands Hatch.

podium finish and 15 points in total: the Chevrolet team can be satisfied with the overall result obtained by the Cruzes in the streets of Porto, in two races (the 99th and 100th of the WTCC) that were closely fought and packed with incidents. Rob Huff finished second in race 1 and sixth in race 2, while Nicola Larini finished fifth in race 1.

Nicola was caught in a race incident with Tarquini in the second race, while Alain Menu, at the wheel of the Cruze carrying the 2009 winning livery of the ‘Young? Creative? Chevrolet!” art competition, had a difficult day, as he was involved in incidents during both races. The team is now looking forward to the next event, which will take place near home, in Brands Hatch, a track that has traditionally been very friendly to the Chevrolets.
