2012 Paris motor show Lamborghini Aventador LP 700 4

Amid the chaos and buzz of many supercars and luxury car launches,The italian supercar-maker,Lamborghini stood apart to debut the Aventador at Paris Motor Show with an innovative engine stop-start system and cylinder deactivation system to improve  the green credentials.Lamborghini was working on these technology on new Avantador for quite long time.
Lamborghini will not follow the typical stop-start systems, instead It uses futuristic technology which features high performance capacitors called supercaps, enabling the v-12 engine to start ups extremely faster in just 180 milliseconds than usual battery based system.

BMW has already patented this technology and Mazda is employing something in its 2014 Mazda. The Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4, now with start/stop and cylinder deactivation

The use of this technology delivers a weight saving of 3kg as it eliminates the need for a large battery."The classic vehicle battery supplhes only the elecronic systems occupies very little space and lasts virtually the entire vehicle life" says Lamborghini.

The cylinder deactivation feature is reportedly based on the technology developed by the Volkswagen Group and already in used in models from Audi and Bentley.

The second new efficient technology applied to the Lamborghini Avantadors V-12 is the cylinder deactivation system(CDS) which under low load and at speeds of less than 135km/h(84mph) will stop the one bank that means six cylinders. This system gives better efficiency without compromising driving experience.

The two new systems drop the average fuel consumption of the Aventador LP700-4 by seven percent to 16 liters/100kms,while at highway speeds of around 130km/h,the savings in consumption and emissions are as much as 20 percent overall, the CO2 emissions of the 2013 Aventador have been reduced from 398g/km to 370 g/km.

Thanks to stiffen springs and optimized dampers which gives more precise handling.
Ironically, lamborghini owners are not obsessed with fuel economy but lamborghini is concerned with fuel economy.
